Lance Paper Box Co., Inc. was founded in Pawtucket, RI in 1951 at a time when the jewelry industry in Rhode Island was enjoying explosive growth but lacked a reliable supply of boxes for the products to be displayed and shipped in. The company's Display Box (patent #2813622) helped to increase that supply and legitimize the firm. Complementary efforts in corrugated boxes and plastic jewelry boxes diversified the revenue stream and instigated a name change to simply Lance Box Co., Inc. The firm was sold in 1986 to Thompson Paper Box Co. with the proceeds from the sale providing the capital base for the investments that Lance Box, LLC makes today.
